Given the recent — but unsurprising (I’ve had notes on how to quit facebook since 2010) — revelations about facebook, I’m in the process of reducing my social media presence.
I stopped sharing personal details a while ago (I’ve almost purely been sharing news and silliness), and even with my phone’s ability to block apps from sharing some information, I don’t trust facebook enough to install that app on my phone anymore.
So, if I want to share pictures with people, it’s not going to be on that platform. And since Twitter is a dumpster fire, I’m staying away from that as far as personal info as well. I’m returning to WordPress, although I noticed Textpattern has a new release out, so it could be that this format doesn’t last long here.
Overall I’m attempting to curate the available information that I don’t own anymore, but I’m sure that’s a bit pointless. I’ll maintain some presence on facebook to allow people to contact me, and I may share my own blog posts there, but that’s likely to be it.
Now, if only I could remember how to write clearly in more than a sentence or two…
