But this time, I brought in a ringer recipe, because I can&#8217;t pass these up when I have the opportunity to make them.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">But I didn&#8217;t have to do anything crazy like jump ahead at all, just move on a couple of pages to:<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Molded Cookies<\/h3>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left has-medium-font-size\">OK, this is a recipe in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3oPbsi1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Cooky Book<\/a><sup>*<\/sup> that I know and love via my mom. I didn&#8217;t know how prevalent they were, and in my defense, here&#8217;s the &#8220;what you need&#8221; picture from earlier in the book.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In my non-defense&#8230; yeah, the text next to it says &#8220;or an electric mixer&#8221; or something similar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So I&#8217;m basically just punishing myself by not using one.  But at least I&#8217;m making fewer dishes.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Onward<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Mix the sugars and fats! Given last week&#8217;s semi-disaster in Refrigerator Cookie Land, I decided that the flour for this recipe would be weighed.  5oz per cup is the general rule, and it usually works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"632\" height=\"376\" src=\"http:\/\/stevegigl.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/6-5dry.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-630\" srcset=\"http:\/\/stevegigl.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/6-5dry.jpg 632w, http:\/\/stevegigl.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/6-5dry-300x178.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 632px) 100vw, 632px\" \/><figcaption>Only one spice this week.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>And, well, you guessed it: mix them, too. I was expecting them to bake up D-shaped, because even after re-rolling them into cylinders, cutting them compressed one side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/stevegigl.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/6-9cut2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-634\" width=\"438\" height=\"361\" srcset=\"http:\/\/stevegigl.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/6-9cut2.jpg 438w, http:\/\/stevegigl.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/6-9cut2-300x247.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 438px) 100vw, 438px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Then I had a brain wave (or something else): why not try an egg slicer? Back to the knife I went, and baking for less than 10 minutes gave me fairly well-rounded cookies that expanded more than you might (well, more than I might) think.
