But this time, I brought in a ringer recipe, because I can&#8217;t pass these up when I have the opportunity to make them.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">But I didn&#8217;t have to do anything crazy like jump ahead at all, just move on a couple of pages to:<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Molded Cookies<\/h3>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left has-medium-font-size\">OK, this is a recipe in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3oPbsi1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Cooky Book<\/a><sup>*<\/sup> that I know and love via my mom. I probably skimped on this a bit because I&#8217;m trying to keep the tools closer to what they likely would have been in most houses the early 60s, so I didn&#8217;t use a stand mixer. I didn&#8217;t sift this time, which probably didn&#8217;t make a difference, but if I were you I&#8217;d do the exact opposite of what I did from here on out.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So yeah, maybe sift it all together.  And probably go with maybe 90% of the suggested amount of flour to start with? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/stevegigl.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/5-5dry.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-603\" width=\"420\" height=\"306\" srcset=\"http:\/\/stevegigl.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/5-5dry.jpg 420w, http:\/\/stevegigl.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/5-5dry-300x219.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 420px) 100vw, 420px\" \/><figcaption>And yeah, it really is a fantastic amount of the spices.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Then everybody goes in the pool, at which point I realized something I&#8217;d missed from before: this is intended to make 7-1\/2 dozen cookies.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"605\" height=\"339\" src=\"http:\/\/stevegigl.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/5-6crumbly.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-604\" srcset=\"http:\/\/stevegigl.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/5-6crumbly.jpg 605w, http:\/\/stevegigl.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/5-6crumbly-300x168.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 605px) 100vw, 605px\" \/><figcaption>You&#8217;re going to need a bigger bowl.  Or two.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Looks a bit crumbly up there, doesn&#8217;t it?  Yeah, it did to me too.  I went ahead and chopped and added the almonds and made an attempt at forming the required refrigerator-cookie logs, but, well&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"609\" height=\"341\" src=\"http:\/\/stevegigl.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/5-7log.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-605\" srcset=\"http:\/\/stevegigl.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/5-7log.jpg 609w, http:\/\/stevegigl.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/5-7log-300x168.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 609px) 100vw, 609px\" \/><figcaption>Slightly disappointing.<sup>1<\/sup><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>It really didn&#8217;t want to mesh into a dough, and at that point I realized that either I should have done a better job creaming the sugar and fats, or kept a bit of the flour back.  (More likely the latter, I&#8217;d think, because adding air doesn&#8217;t necessarily mean you&#8217;re going to hydrate more flour&#8230;?)  Possibly both.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But I wasn&#8217;t about to give up on that amount of ingredients, so into the refrigerator it went.
